SEC Bars James Anglim

James Anglim (CRD #: 3040791) has been barred by the SEC, according to his most recent BrokerCheck disclosure, accessed on September 5, 2023. For details concerning the bar, keep reading.

SEC Bar

On August 15, 2023, the Securities and Exchange Commission barred James Anglim following allegations that from November 2016 to February 2022, James Anglim engaged in market manipulation. The alleged scheme involved penny stocks, which are low-priced stocks that are often the subject of manipulative trading strategies. He allegedly abused his position to help “known securities laws violators” illegally sell their penny stocks to unsuspecting investors.

James Anglim allegedly purchased shares from these groups, knowing his fellow stock manipulators would sell the same number of shares. This trading activity made it appear to the market that the increase in trading volume was solely the result of the market’s demand for these stocks, which drove up their price. Meanwhile, the groups aggressively promoted the penny stocks.

Because James Anglim allegedly knew how the groups would trade ahead of time, he was allegedly able to trade and enjoy riskless profits for his firms’ accounts, and occasionally for his personal brokerage firm accounts.

James Anglim allegedly helped these groups liquidate large blocks of the groups’ stock for significant profits.

The SEC ordered James Anglim to pay a disgorgement of $405,991 and prejudgment interest of $82,009.
